Design of CLT Structures – Ph.D. Course
Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, University of Enna Kore, Enna, Italy 26/06/2023
This university seminar for PhD candidates offered a comprehensive exploration of Timber Structures with a focus on Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) construction and its earthquake-resistant properties. The program spanned over 8 hours of engaging sessions. In the first part, students delved into the fundamental principles of CLT structures. They gained an in-depth understanding of Timber Structures, examining wood’s material anatomy, physical, and mechanical properties. The seminar explored various engineered wood products such as Glulam, LVL, CLT, and OSB. Participants were introduced to verifications at the local level, connections, Johansen Theory, and the seismic behavior of CLT structures. Additionally, the seminar focused on capacity design in CLT structures, imparting essential skills for practical applications.
